‘En Champans’ is one of de Montille’s more firm cuvées and is marked by a darker concentration than one usually expects from Volnay. The wine was vinified with 50% whole bunches and shows spicy flavors red fruit, black pepper, potpourri and earth. Although well-integrated now, we’d give this bottle 3-5 years to flesh out a bit.
