At the helm of biodynamic Domaine des Ardoisières is Brice Ormont, originally from Champagne and one of the cult favorites making wine in Savoie at the moment, though these wines are relatively new to the US market. Ormont’s two single vineyard sites, Cevins and St. Pierre de Soucy, are rocky and steep, planted on 17 hectares not far from the Swiss border. ‘Quartz Blanc’ is Altesse (aka Roussette), as the domaine only works with local varieties. We love the hint of smokiness on this one, enveloped as it is by spicy fruit.
