Fleurie native Yann Bertrand switched career paths to follow in his father’s winemaking footsteps. He learned his craft from the likes of Jean Foillard and Yvan Mtras, and now farms his nine hectares of old vine Gamay all organically, with some biodynamic principles implemented. ‘Folie’ comes from 30 to 60-year-old vines rooted in sandy granitic soils. The wine is semi-carbonically macerated without SO2 and aged in a combination of oak and tank.
