With 480,000 acres under vines and a signature ‘New World Winemaking’ style, there’s no region in the world like California, home to 90% of America’s wine production. ‘West Coast Best Coast’ just went to a whole new level.
America's Claim to Fame
Phylloxera, Prohibition, and a Second World War; winemaking in California didn’t always come easy. Thankfully, a Paris-based wine competition held in May 1976 put the region back on the map, after a unanimous victory against the wines of Bordeaux. For the Golden State, it was only uphill from there.
Today, California is a lead player in world wine production. Known for its signature, bold and fruit-forward winemaking style, the wines continue to capture the hearts of consumers and critics alike. With such a vast amount of land under vines, the possibilities are endless. From juicy, full-bodied Cabs of the north, to high-acid, cooler climate Chardonnays of the Sta. Rita Hills, and everything in between, there’s truly a bottle of California wine for every type of palate.
