Rudi Pichler’s family has tended vines in the Wachau since 1731, dominated by Gruner Veltliner and Riesling. Rudi took over in 1997, farming the family’s 15 hectares of south-facing terraced vines with a ‘wine caretaker, not winemaker’ philosophy, creating pure, energetic wines. ‘Hochrain’ is food-friendly and approachable, showing flavors of lemon, green apple, and radish.
