This hauntingly aromatic Barbaresco is loaded with texture, energy, and layered flavors of dried red fruits, tart cherries, crushed violets, orange rind, used leather, cloves, and sweet spice. The 2004 vintage in Barbaresco was marked by a late start (abundant rains early on), strong summer temperatures, and slow-ripening fruit due to a cooler fall. This vintage was seen as a breath of fresh air after the challenging two previous vintages. Wines from great producers are perfumed, supple, and overall great quality.
