Headed by Gilbert and Brigit Clusel, this Cote-Rotie estate’s 3.5 hectares lay across the region’s signature granitic slopes, with the original vineyard site planted in 1935 by Gilbert’s grandfather. Here, vines are dedicated to Serine, a low yielding clone of Syrah. ‘Les Schistes’ is produced from estate and purchased fruit, showing lifted aromatics of dark berries, red flowers, olive, and pepper. Meaty and robust; pair with hearty meat dishes.
