Domaine de Villaine — founded in the 1970s by Aubert de Villaine, also general manager of Domaine de la Romanee Conti — is the antidote. This Bouzeron-based winery is under the same guard as DRC, but the wines come at a fraction of the cost and are from some of the most exciting appellations in the Côte Chalonnaise. If there’s one Burgundy “deal” on the table right now, this is probably it.
