Michele Chiarlo founded his namesake estate in 1956 with the goal of making clear and expressive wines from Piedmont’s top crus. His winery is located in Monferrato, and his vineyard sites are scattered across some of Piedmont’s most coveted growing sites, including Cannubi, Cerequio, Asili (Barbaresco), and Gavi. Only indigenous varieties (Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cortese, and Moscato) are used to vinify Chiarlo’s varietal wines. ‘Tortoniano’ shows layered flavors of rose petals, baking spice, dried red fruit, and lavendar. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity create a savory and polished final wine. Drink now through 2029.
