Sardinia-based Giovanni Montisci produces extremely small quantities of high-quality Grenache (Cannonau) from his family’s 2.5 hectare plot of vines, which is entirely unirrigated. Vines are deeply rooted into red clay and granitic soils, creating highly aromatic, complex wines. ‘Riserva Franzisca’ comes from 85-year old vines, aged two years in oak barrels. Structured and intense, this wine screams for savory cuisines, like pasta ragu or steak.
