Deemed one of the most important producers in the Wachau Valley, Franz Hirtzberger took over his family’s vines in 1983, which are dominated by Gruner Veltliner and Riesling. Fermentations are always done in steel with native yeasts, with aging done in large foudre. ‘Kirchweg’ shows notes of juicy pear, lemon peel, and white pepper, giving way to a concentrated finish marked by zesty acidity. Will age gracefully over the next 15 years!
